Christmas's Adventures
Tron Legacy

So I just got back from the midnight premiere of Tron Legacy and I’m just going to get this out of the way now: It’s a fun movie with great music and visuals so if you guys are looking for a movie that you casually enjoy then I recommend it.
However there were just so a lot of things that I did not like about the movie. For one, why is the title even “Tron Legacy”? And yea I saw the original 1982 version and that title was at least fitting since Tron was a program that was written into the system to help Flynn destroy the MCP. Ok he’s badass as hell in this one, but he is barely ever shown or discussed. You can’t even differentiate him from the others because he always has his mask on and he is called by a different name. He wasn’t even one of the main protagonists so why did they give this movie this name? This part of the story was fine by me I didn’t mind it at all, just had a gripe with the title. It was like “The Karate Kid” when it was really Kung Fu, just a way for the company to continue a franchise by mis-naming something. Also, they never really explain ANYTHING in this movie. Starting with the page that Allen received in the beginning, how did CLU page him if he has no contact with the outside world. And who the hell still has a pager in the year 2010 anyways. And also when Flynn said “hours in here are like minutes on the outside” doesn’t that mean he should be dead since he has been on the grid for 20 years in “earth time”? I know it is explained in the movie that Flynn is the creator of the system and stuff, but how did that give him the ability to be like God, I swear he can do pretty much whatever the fuck he wants yet he hid in the desert for TWENTY YEARS! Sure he was trapped inside the grid, but shit he could’ve taken down CLU at least. They also did not explain the purpose of the “games” as well as this one, but thats just whatever I didn’t care too much. On a random note Olivia Wilde was pretty damn hot but she was awkward as hell in this movie. There were probably other things that I noticed were wrong but I’m too tired to remember right now =. I had been waiting for this movie for almost a year and I loved the original so I guess my expectations were too high on this one. But still overall, even though it didn’t meet my expectations it was a decent movie if you just watch it for what it is: visual eye candy.
