Mirrors Edge

After 3 long years of owning this game I have finally succeeded in completing it.  For those of you that know me, I have a horrible tendency of not completing games in a timely manner, or completing games at all.  I have no idea what drove me back to playing this game after all these years, that last time I even touched this game was 2008.  Maybe it was all the memories I had that surrounded this game which evoked a sense of nostalgia.  When the first E3 trailers for Mirrors Edge were released I flipped my shit at how amazing the graphics were, how innovative the gameplay was, and just the overall adrenaline rush that anyone would get from playing this game.  Its just pure nonstop running, jumping, and dodging bullets! So when this game first came out I remember picking it up on release date and was salty that I didn’t pre-order to get the cool messenger bag but whatever =.  Anyways Mirrors Edge had come out on the same week as labor day and I remember going over to Timmy’s house and playing through the first 1/3 of the game in one sitting.  But when I got home I just played the first 1/10 on my game and that was that, never again did I play it again.  I had always meant to get around to playing it but I never did.  As time went one I kept thinking the game was just a mediocre game with somewhat fun gameplay and a really crappy story (story isn’t all that great but not crappy either), so I never felt the need to actually complete the game.  But then when I got my wisdom teeth taken out over break I was bored one day in bed and just decided to give it another go.  The moment I popped it in, I was hit with an enormous amount of nostalgia, the “Still Alive” theme song that played in the menu was the same theme showcased in every trailer ever for this game.  Mirrors Edge was the 3rd PS3 game that I had ever bought and was around the time of my PS3 fanboyism due to the release of MGS4 prior that summer.  I had never even played a demo of this game before I shelled out full price for a 6-8 hour game, I was merely riding the bandwagon with everyone else that thought this would be the greatest adventure game of all time.  However when it came out it received a 7.3/10 rating, which is just average.  And subconcously that rating might have effected me not playing the game.  After the hype cooled down my motivation to play this game died down as well.  And hitting “Continue Game” had brought all that hype right back, felt like it was Nov 2008 again.

/end nerd rant

Hell maybe I’ll even replay it in the future
